Prompt for Piers Plowman

Using our previous readings (perhaps most obviously the Auden essay) and (if you wish) other resources, offer up what you think a mystery story is, what a crime story is, and how we can think of "mystery in the story" (look to the first page of your syllabus for a refresher on this final distinction) as related and unrelated to the first two.

For your first few posts on Piers Plowman, I want you to think about how the text conforms to the definitions you've come up with, how it doesn't seem to be related, and how something written long before mystery stories as we know them now can change our understanding of what it means to and the importance of gathering evidence. As always, stay close to the text, have fun, and you're always allowed to say you don't like it.
