Crying of Parking Lot 49
The crying of lot 49 is a very good mystery story as it is is very developed in how the reader is trying to understand what Oedipa is trying to find out about the death of her ex-lover. The story is wrapped around the competing ideals of two groups that lie on the same spectrum of the political sphere. This could be a comparison to today's society as there is political strife in both political parties (Democrats and Republicans). As a Republican myself, I see the strife within the party as one side is trying to work with the stubborn Democrats while others want our agenda pushed and no compromise like the Democrats.
A quote to sum up these is chapters is in Chapter 4, as Oedipa thinks to herself, "If it was really Pierce's attempt to leave an organized something behind after his own annihilation, then it was aaprt of her duty, wasn't it, to bestow life on what persisted, to try to be what Driblette was, the dark machine in the center of the planetarium, to bring the estate into pulsing stelliferous meaning, all in a soaring dome around her?"
This quote shows how Oedipa doesn't know how to fight the system that is affecting her every move and bring justice to her past lover's estate.
