You Must Be Psycho

Psycho was and still is one of the most influential thriller films ever released. Movies normally do not kill the protagonist half-way through the movie, but Hitchcock changed the genre with this move.

While Psycho is a great movie with a lot of suspense, I don't think it is as good as a mystery movie/story as the Maltese Falcon. The part of the movie that creates the most suspense is when Marion first comes to the hotel and she overhears Norman and "Mother" arguing with each other about having a woman in the house. When I first watched this movie, many moons ago I was convinced that there was actually two people there and not just Norman. But upon repeat viewing this time, I was able to pick up more subtleties that were presented throughout that hypothesizes but not confirms that Norman is the only one at the hotel.

In terms of mystery story, I think if this movie would have been made in today's time that the mystery would have been solved in a short amount of time. I say this because if Mrs. Bates was dead for even ten years, the government would have already been investigating since nobody has seen her in that long amount of time.
