The Maltese Falcon (Time is relative)

The Maltese Falcon proved semi-interesting, the characters themselves were well-developed and the story was good. When Archer was shot within the first few minutes of the movie I was rather surprised. I had thought Archer would be of some relative importance as a character at the beginning of the movie. Nevertheless, he wasn't really. I think his importance comes into play as we see how it affects Spade at the end of the movie in his conversation with Wonderby. Certainly the action scenes were fake, but they were also decently exciting. That part was enjoyable. Also, I could see how whenever a person's face took center screen they kind of seemed like an object, like they weren't even really there. I know that screen ratios and camera angles were very important to a time where graphics sucked, so it's cool to see how they put everything together. I think that, besides camera angles and invisible booster seats, Spade appeared so tall because his pants were so high. It's amazing see how these people put together a movie in the best way they could. I also had to wonder if Archer died because of the "flaws" mentioned by the policemen in the movie. Archer did seem somewhat rape-y when O' Shannessee came in the room all lying and stuff. Perhaps a play at divine retribution for sin? Just trying to think of things to say. Overall, it was a good movie with decent action and a good story.
